HIV Treatment
Taking a combination of anti-HIV drugs can stop the virus from reproducing and allow your immune system to recover. The anti-HIV drugs are very powerful so many people experience short term side effects when they first start taking HIV medication. These usually improve after a few weeks.
Combination therapy only works if you take your drugs on time, every time.

Adherence
To make sure that HIV treatment works effectively, the drugs must be taken on time, every time. If you manage that, you have 100% adherence which can sometimes be difficult to maintain.
If you are having problems taking your tablets on time, consider ways which might improve your adherence. For example, using an alarm on your watch or phone to remind you; asking a friend or family member to remind you; or keeping an emergency dose with you at work or in your car so that if you forget to pick up your tablets you can still take them on time.
