Positive Action recognises that people living with HIV, and their family and friends, come into contact with many professionals from health and social care or the voluntary sector at different stages of their lives. However, they may not have received specialist training or be familiar with the current developments in HIV management.

Positive Action has extensive experience of providing training and workshops to professionals and volunteers in partnership with nurse specialists, clinicians, expert speakers and trainers. Over the years our training and workshops have covered topics such as:

  • HIV Essentials
  • Update on developments in HIV
  • Older people living with HIV in the residential care setting
  • Let’s talk about sex
  • Safeguarding
  • Coping with Stress and Anxiety
  • How to Build Confidence and Self Esteem
  • Nutrition and healthy eating
  • The use of Prep

We are hoping to develop a new programme in the future to help people living with HIV to provide peer support to each other. This will include training on group facilitation skills and befriending.
