Our History

Positive Action was originally formed as a telephone help-line providing information to the local community in the early 90’s.

The name ‘Positive Action’ and the Constitution were adopted, and the charity was registered in 1995 when, with the assistance of the local health authorities, independent premises were leased in Farnborough. This move enabled the volunteers to start providing emotional and practical support services directly to individuals.

In 1998 additional funding from Surrey and Hampshire County Councils enabled Positive Action to relocate to new premises in Aldershot and to establish a unique and dedicated centre for people affected by HIV. The Centre is where our core services are delivered from.

Positive Action is supported by a team of voluntary and paid workers and other experts and professionals.

Funding for our services is provided through statutory bodies – health and social care – and by other grant making organisations.

Our complimentary therapies are funded by the fundraising activities our team work hard to maintain.

Donations are always welcome and gratefully received.
